CASE STUDY

Carbon Intensity is an important metric for ethanol production plants.   With certification happening over a large time span, plant operation schemes tend to fluctuate.   These fluctuations can increase or decrease a carbon intensity score for an ethanol plant, however if a plant cannot see the carbon intensity from day to day, they will have a hard time visualizing what helps their overall score.   Direct Data Management has developed a report for one of our clients that uses the Greet 3.0 model used in California LCFS legislation along with DCS and lab readings to provide real-time carbon intensity indication.   Using this day to day calculation, the plant was able to identify what operating scheme was best for it’s carbon intensity score when it came time to re-certify with the EPA.
